Primary School Pedagogue

The Primary School Pedagogue plays a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and continuous evolution of the EtonHouse pedagogy across its primary schools. Reporting to the Head of Pedagogy, the role works collaboratively within the Pedagogy Team and directly with school leaders and teaching teams to champion best practices in curriculum design, teaching, learning, and assessment. This role includes mentoring, capacity building, and contributing to curriculum innovation and alignment across schools.
Key Responsibilities
A. Pedagogical Leadership and Professional Learning
- Champion an inquiry-driven and child-centric pedagogical approach, informed by frameworks such as the Reggio Emilia philosophy, IB PYP, and the International Curriculum Association (ICA).
- Plan, design, and implement professional learning opportunities for teaching teams in collaboration with school-based Pedagogical Leadership Teams.
- Facilitate internal workshops, conferences, and training sessions for local and overseas schools (regional travel will be required).
- Mentor and coach Senior Teachers, Curriculum Coordinators, and newly appointed pedagogical leaders.
- Support school teams in developing a culture of reflective teaching and professional dialogue through modelling, co-teaching, and feedback.
B. School Support and Engagement
- Conduct scheduled school visits to primary campuses to observe teaching and learning, provide feedback, and co-plan professional development strategies.
- Establish positive, respectful, and growth-oriented working relationships with school principals and curriculum leaders.
- Collaborate on initiatives that enhance pedagogical alignment, innovation, and instructional excellence within and across schools.
- Help teaching teams translate curriculum frameworks into daily practice with fidelity and creativity.
C. Curriculum Development and Research
- Work in tandem with Curriculum Managers on the design, review, and implementation of curriculum frameworks and documentation.
- Contribute to the creation of asynchronous professional learning modules and digital content to support teacher development.
- Engage in action research, literature reviews, and the exploration of international best practices in pedagogy.
- Assist in the development of assessment tools and practices that align with school-wide learning outcomes and philosophies.
D. Organisational Projects and Initiatives
- Lead or contribute to group-wide pedagogical initiatives and strategic projects as identified by the Head of Pedagogy.
- Participate in curriculum mapping and alignment exercises across year levels and campuses to ensure horizontal and vertical articulation.
- Provide pedagogical input in group-level audits, reviews, and school improvement planning processes.
- Undertake any other responsibilities or projects relevant to pedagogy and organizational growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised Degree in Education or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a pedagogical leadership role (e.g., Senior Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Academic Lead).
- Proven experience in primary years education within frameworks such as IB PYP or Reggio Emilia-inspired practice, or Cambridge curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of inquiry-based teaching and learning practices and documentation of children’s learning.
- Experience working across multiple schools or campuses and leading professional development at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust, coach peers, and drive meaningful pedagogical change.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is advantageous.
- Deep understanding of child development and early years/primary transitions.
- Highly organised, independent, and able to manage multiple priorities across schools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage adults.
