Job Description & Requirements
Reporting to the Principal and working closely with the PYP Coordinator, this individual will be responsible for delivering Visual Art lessons and providing creative experiences and provocations for children from Nursery to Year 6.
Job Role & Responsibilities
Support children’s creativity and learning through working directly with the children to provide experiences and provocations for the children and to observe and document the learning process in detail.
Provide a stimulating environment for children and staff to work on long-term projects and provide a wide range of “intelligent” materials giving children the opportunity to express themselves through as many “languages” as possible.
Ensure that there is a broad range of creative experiences available for the children to encourage ideas, exploration and questions and develop their ability to express themselves in as many ways as possible.
Develop teaching staff awareness of working with children to encourage their learning through creative expression, individually and as part of a group.
Create an aesthetic environment in the classroom and influence the aesthetic environment in the school.
Job Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Education or a Bachelor Degree in Arts with a Teaching certificate
Have between 2 to 5 years of relevant professional teaching experience, preferably in a school environment.
Commitment to working in an educational environment that offers academic rigour and excellence in teaching
An understanding of and experience in working in an IB PYP Programme is desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sensitivity toward cultural diversities
Ability to build community through positive interactions with parents
Self-motivated with a high energy level
Demonstrates use of initiative while showing flexibility and adaptability
